If you want to work with smart people who bring years of experience and a variety of different perspectives to the job, Mirant’s Information Technology group is worth checking out.

What Mirant might lack in name recognition, it makes up for in creativity: our IT organization has been listed among InformationWeek’s “500 Most Innovative Companies” for the last seven years. Mirant was also a finalist for the Project of the Year Award, part of the 2009 Industry Excellence Awards given by AOTMP at its annual telecom and IT management conference. The award recognizes commitment to and implementation of best practices, process excellence, ingenuity, agility and scalability to business requirements.

Mirant IT operates like a dynamic consulting company, providing technology solutions that transform the business. We provide a wide range of services to satisfy all of Mirant’s various technology needs. Our IT teams are capable of providing a lot more than PCs and desktop software; we take great pride in understanding all aspects of the energy generation business and leveraging our skills and experience to support corporate operations and goals. With this in mind, we seek IT professionals who possess strong business acumen in addition to technical knowledge.

What makes Mirant an attractive workplace for information technology personnel?

Our need to deliver complete solutions (process and systems) that add value to the business is balanced by a flexible work environment.

We offer opportunities for technical training and professional development to help employees increase their career potential. (We’ve even had some employees get their MBAs while working here, thanks to the company’s tuition reimbursement program.) We are always looking for new ways to make training more accessible and to help employees build on their skills. Employees will also find many opportunities to lead projects and to take on supervisory roles.
