How would you like to contribute to a service that millions of people depend on? You can by joining Mirant’s power generation operations.
Mirant’s power generation employees are responsible for a variety of tasks: fuel handling, mechanical maintenance, welding, boiler operation, electrical work, environmental compliance, chemical control, and much, much more. Safety and environmental care is paramount in every task — which means this is a business of strict processes and procedures. Yet it’s also a place where creativity and new ideas are gold. We value fresh thinking — especially when it helps solve problems and improves our ability to deliver electricity to meet demand.
What makes Mirant an attractive workplace?
In addition to good pay and benefits, we offer virtually unlimited career potential for employees at all levels. Our plant crews comprise some of the most experienced people in the power industry. We follow proven industry practices, using innovative approaches when possible. We’re now in the process of upgrading many of our stations with new solutions that will curb emissions and meet more stringent environmental standards. Plus, at all of our stations, employees have opportunities to receive training in a variety of subjects — from technical instruction to leadership fundamentals and business writing.
What you get from all of this is a high-energy environment of continual learning, stimulating challenges, and career opportunities you may have never considered before.
Who’s the boss?
Our generating stations are managed by a Plant Manager: the person at the plant who is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, profitable, and reliable operation and maintenance of the station. You would report to a supervisor or manager who reports up to the Plant Manager. Expect to see your Plant Manager out and about in the plant, talking to employees and actively involved in day to day challenges.
