Running a power plant requires precision and a certain level of skill, not only for plant performance but, most importantly, employee safety.
For this reason, we conduct pre-employment testing for some positions at our plants. These tests are created and validated by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), an association of shareholder-owned electric companies, international affiliates, and industry associates worldwide.
Tradesperson tests involve:
- graphic calculations, such as figuring the distance between two points or the surface area of a rectangle
- mechanical concepts
- reading comprehension
- mathematics and formulas — i.e., converting quarts to gallons
Practice tests are available at no charge through the EEI web site. These are excellent tools to prepare you for the testing component of Mirant's assessment. You will need to enter the name and password below to access the practice tests.
