Based in Atlanta, Mirant's Commercial Operations support the company's power generation plants — and our customers — around the clock. The principal activities of our commercial operations team are:

Logistics

We purchase and sell electricity and energy-related commodities, including the fuel needed to run our plants — such as natural gas, coal, and oil. Our team provides 24/7 coverage to sell and deliver electricity and natural gas throughout the U.S. when these vital resources are needed.

Risk Management

We use information and technology to help our plants and customers better anticipate and prepare for changes in weather conditions, supply disruptions, fluctuations in demand, and increased fuel costs — in other words, reduce risks. We also work hard to find new opportunities to create value for our customers. For examples on how we can help you, read about our products and services»

Marketing

We offer a full range of products and services to help our customers optimize their business in a volatile energy marketplace. For a complete overview, read more about our products and services»

Trading

We use our commercial insight into market trends, such as price movement and supply/demand dynamics, combined with our portfolio “edge” to arbitrage and increase margins within defined risk limits. Focusing on markets where we have generating plants, we participate in spot and forward physical markets and futures, as well as options and swap financial markets.
